Following the provided instructions we soaked some new toilet rolls with boiling water until they didn't soak up any more. Then left them to cool before adding the spawn.
The spawned rolls were then covered in a plastic bag and left in a dark place for the mycelium to grow. After a couple of weeks the mycelium have grown through the tissue and it looked like this:
The rolls were then taken out and placed in a fridge for 3-4 days to chill, then placed in a light humid place for a couple of weeks for the fruit to develop. Unfortuneately we have only produced one or two fruiting bodies at a time, like this one:
It does seem a bit of a waste using processed papaer but at least they were plain unbleached or dyed rolls.Back to the garden trials index
